Spell It Out – Go-Go Lunchbox with Lauri Tyeryar

Show #58 (airdate 5-20-10):  Love it or hate it, there is a very special group of songwriters out there using a lot of spelling in their songs.  Al Green inspired Lauri to do this show with his track L-O-V-E, but the fun doesn’t stop there!  There are all kinds of songs with spelling in them here — including TWO Bo Diddley covers — that’s right, TWO!!  (Unfortunately, the first few minutes of the show were cut off in the recording process… so the podcast  jumps right into the music!)

Mother’s Day Show – Go-Go Lunchbox with Lauri Tyeryar

Show #57 (airdate 5/6/10): What better way to celebrate Mom than with your favorite DJ? The show starts off with a couple of country sets (and a real weeper from Hank Williams) and then the pace picks up… finally ending in a psychedelic meltdown!

Kentucky Derby – Go-Go Lunchbox with Lauri Tyeryar

Kentucky Derby 136 Show #56 (airdate 4/30/10):  Lauri did it last year and she’s doing it again this year — an institution has been founded!  A song for each horse running on May 1st (as of 4/30), in their position order.  See if you can find any good luck charms in this batch.

In Your Head – Go-Go Lunchbox with Lauri Tyeryar

Songs for Lovers – Go-Go Lunchbox with Lauri Tyeryar

Show #54 (airdate 4/15/10): Corny as it may be, Lauri was inspired by a wedding she attended this week.  We all know a little bit about love (a *very* little bit!) and these are the songs that sound as if they were truly inspired by that feeling… not that schlocky crap you hear on commerical radio!  Special guest: Chandra Hartman.

Time – Go-Go Lunchbox with Lauri Tyeryar

Show #53 (airdate 4/8/10):  Time flies when you’re having fun… and so this hour of premium music will feel like just a few short minutes!  All songs are time themed, so you’ll hear stuff like John Lee Hooker’s “Time is Marching” and Johnny Cash’s “25 Minutes to Go.”  There’s a lot of music from different genres and eras in this hour, so brace yourself!

Fool’s Gold – Go-Go Lunchbox with Lauri Tyeryar

Show #52 (airdate 4/1/10):  It’s April Fool’s Day and what better time to feature foolish selections?

This show plays a bit like an ‘oldies’ show because it seems that folks in the 50’s and 60’s were more likely to discuss their foolishness in songs.  That said, there are a few rockers – and a cover of Muddy Waters’ “Still a Fool” that you probably haven’t heard.

Family Reunions – Go-Go Lunchbox

Show #51 (airdate 3/25/10):  Spring is here and for some that means family reunions.  Like it or not, there are songs about mom, dad, cousins, grandma, sons, and daughters.  The show ends with a psychedelic gem by Gong, “Magick Brother”.

By The Numbers – Go-Go Lunchbox

Show #50 3/18/10:

This show includes songs that are numerical in nature.  The show kicks off with “Thirteen” by Big Star in honor of the recently departed Alex Chilton (RIP).  After that, all bets are off!  There are some great 60’s rockers but don’t discount some of the 80’s stuff .   You will like it.  Count on it.

Undiscovered Gold’ & Sparklehorse Tribute – Go-Go Lunchbox

Show #49 (airdate 3/11/10): Lauri is celebrating one year on the air by supporting some local music — not local to here, but local to someone! The first half of the show will feature songs by The Beatdowns (Columbus, OH), Chicken Snake (NY, NY), Porter Hall Tennessee (Nashville), Kid Congo & the Pink Monkey Birds (Washington, DC/NY), Carless Hearts (San Fran, CA), The Bang (San Fran, CA), and Dondo de la Mancha (Detroit). This is some *good* stuff. The second half of the show is a tribute to Mark Linkous of Sparklehorse, who died on March 6, 2010. RIP, Mark.

Cover Songs – Go-Go Lunchbox

More Covers!! – Go-Go Lunchbox

Show #48 (airdate 3/4/10):  The hits just keep coming!  Brace yourself for some crazy versions of “Love Me Tender,”I Am A Rock,” and “In My Time of Dying.”  And if Santana’s original “Evil Ways” didn’t have enough Latin flavor for you, let Pete & Louie show you the way.

Has is been a while since you’ve heard Bert Convy (game show host extraordinaire) sing? Have you ever wondered what a song about convertibles and headbands would sound sound like? All this and MORE in this hour of music.

First up, a set of lesser-known Elvis tracks (if there is such a thing) since the King would have been 75 on January 8. The second half features Al Green, who became a household name thanks to Memphis producer (among other things) Willie Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell passed away on January 6, 2010.
